Armenia, Garni, Geghard
The foundation of the temple of Garni belongs to the descendants of Hayk namely Gegham, in honor of his grandson Garnik became known as a fortress. In AD 59 the fortress of Garni was destroyed by the Roman armies. In the 70 th year, the fortress has been impeccably renovated Armenian king Trdat, then built a palace and the cathedral. Garni Temple says military base, royal residence, but later beacuse of the invasions of Garni, the church was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1679. Later, in 1830, founded the city of Maku and began to inhabit the residents. Garni Temple was rebuilt in Soviet times, during which were taken a lot of stones used by the ancient ruins of the castle. The cathedral is considered one of the most active tourist destinations in Armenia.
